Description
NEOM is the planned independent economic zone in the Northwest of Saudi Arabia. It is born out of the ambition of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 to see the country develop into a pioneering and thriving model of excellence in various and important areas of life. The NEOM Reservoirs – NEOM Circular City Water Storage Reservoirs Project involved the development of the Concept Design & Employer’s Requirements for the Magna Storage Reservoir (MSR)and WDC. The Employer’s Requirements were prepared based on the FIDIC Yellow Book Conditions of Contract (First Edition,1999) with Employer modifications. The scope of works associated with the MSR involves construction of a twin celled 200,000m3 treated water storage reservoir, circa 1.8km of new access road linking the proposed site & Route 8746, a reinforced utility culverts to be constructed adjacent to the proposed access road required to accommodate the 800mm DIA inlet & outlet pipework, site buildings, chlorination & Photovoltaic (PV) installations and a tanker filling station. The development of the Design & Employer’s Requirements for the site of the MSR and WDC was completed to include provisions such that a further 200,000m3 reservoir could be constructed at the site in the future bringing the total volume of storage on site to 400,000m3 and also facilitate the modular expansion of the chlorination & PV installations. As part of the Design for the proposed reservoir and WDC site, an analysis in conjunction with the requirements of the supply zone for the reservoir was carried out to determine the optimum finished ground levels for the proposed site to minimize the requirements to import / export large quantities of fill material. By minimizing the quantum of fill material to be imported / exported from the site, this will represent considerable benefits to the Client with respect to program, cost & the environment It is proposed that the MSR will supply water to South Magna and Wadi Tayyib regions.
